(New York, NY) Music’s most celebrated debut artist of 2006, hip hop breakthrough artist Chamillionaire was honored with five nominations for the First Annual BET Hip-Hop Awards, yesterday, scheduled to be held in Atlanta, GA on November 12th, and air on BET on November 15th. The first ever hip-hop awards presented by the top rated cable network will pay homage to hip-hop’s global impact with an evening of awards and performances. For Chamillionaire, the unprecedented five nominations come barely a month after beating out proven superstars 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes and others for Best Rap Video of the Year honors for his groundbreaking “Ridin" video, featuring Krayzie Bone, at this year’s 2006 MTV Video Music Awards, in addition to his recently announced American Music Awards nomination for Best New Artist, along side fellow nominees Carrie Underwood and the Pussycat Dolls. Chamillionaire scored the five first ever nods for the BET Hip-Hop Awards for Hip-Hop Track of the Year for “Ridin’,” Rookie of the Year, Hip-Hop MVP of the Year, Best Collaboration, and Viewer’s Choice Award (Wireless People’s Champ).

One of this year’s newest artists will win the coveted Breaking Woodie. Winners will be determined through student voting and announced at a live concert event October 25th at Roseland Ballroom in New York City.
The 2006 “mtvU Woodie Awards” will debut on November 2nd at 8pm ET and mark a significant multi-platform milestone, as the show premieres simultaneously on mtvU, mtvU.com and mtvU Mobile, as well as Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition PCs and Media Center Extenders including the Xbox 360. Timed to the simulcast, the entire show will also premiere on demand at mtvU.com – giving viewers the power to experience every moment in whatever order they wish, “remix” it, save it to their setlist and e-mail it to their friends.
